The food was delicious and affordable! The outdoor patio was a vibe. They even have heaters. The birria tacos were very crispy! (Ask for a small side of broth for an extra kick) they have extra spicy sauces if you ask. The breakfast burrito was cheesy and hit the spot. I had a Bailey's coffee and it was so good. The portions are a great size. Everything was authenticly cooked. The service was unmatched!! We will definitely be back.
The food here is fantastic and very filling. My shredded chicken burrito was juicy and very filling. The guacamole here is also great because they aren't adding any sour cream or anything to thin it out to make money off you. I haven't had anything here yet that i didn't like. Quiet atmosphere and relaxing. Service is always fast and friendly.
We ordered the carnitas and the beef. The carnitas was fall-off the bones and perfectly seasoned. The beef was tender. The portions were big. We loved our fried ice cream. Our server was very welcoming.
Carols Mexican Restaurant is a family favorite. After a day spent at Strands beach this is the perfect way to finish the day. The food is delicious. I have had the pozole, taquitos and tortilla soup. All the food here hits just right. The staff is incredibly kind and accommodating. It's like visiting family. We opt to sit outside around the lava rock communal fire pit. Carlos also has weekly live music nights which we might come to see soon. Sombreros off to Carlos Mexican Restaurant! Five stars.
My daughter and I ate here and truly enjoyed eating 100% authentic Mexican food. DELICIOUS!! Our server was friendly and quick to accommodate our special requests. Don't forget to get their guacamole with chips. You won't be disappointed. The cheese enchiladas were so amazing and the margarita was perfection. Will definitely eat here again. Would be good to have access to the sweatshirts and t-shirts and other merch. on-line

Alright so the ambience is such a vibe with the fire pits, little cabana, twinkle lights & tiki torches. I definitely loved the outside patio. The service was super fast & we got our food very quickly after ordering. Absolutely loved the chili verde on the tostada, it fell apart so easily & had great flavor. My enchilada was also so good. The chicken taco was good, not amazing. Next time I'd try one of the burritos. They also brought out 2 house-made hot sauces for us to try which was so nice & definitely flavorful. Im curious to see what this place is like for taco tuesday!
WHAT AN EXCEPTIONAL EXPERIENCE!! We had the VERY good fortune to stop in today and enjoy their Salsa Fresca, Chile Rellenos, Chile Verde and their drinks. Service was so graciously welcoming and matched only by the food. The atmosphere is like a tropical setting in Mexico. ¡ Olé! - CAN'T WAIT TO RETURN!!
Great little hidden gem in Dana Point, we had the pleasure to meet the owner Mercedes, this time we sat inside and we were able to learn about the history of the restaurant, family owned for over three decades, great food with authentic cuisine and flavors, super attentive staff, great outdoor seating and cozy atmosphere inside. Our food experience was also very good and flavorful and Joanna provided excellent service. We heard that the Pozole and Menudo are a must try... For sure we are coming back for that!
